1 tablespoon olive oil or ghee

1 small onion, finely chopped (optional)

2 garlic cloves, minced (optional)

250g (½ lb) lean ground beef (85–90%)

½ teaspoon ground paprika

½ teaspoon Lebanese 7-spice (or substitute cumin/allspice)

¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon

Salt and black pepper to taste

4 large eggs

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add onion and sauté for 2–3 minutes. Stir in garlic (if using) and cook until fragrant.
  3. Add ground beef, break it apart, and cook until browned (5–6 minutes).
  4. Add paprika, 7-spice, cinnamon, salt, and pepper. Mix and let spices toast for 1–2 minutes.
  5. Spread beef evenly in skillet and crack eggs directly on top.
  6. Lower heat and cook until egg whites are just set, yolks still runny (3–4 minutes).
  7. Remove from heat, garnish, and serve immediately with pita or rice.
