1 (16 oz) package frozen potato and cheese pierogies

1 ½ cups shredded cheddar cheese

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

1 large onion, thinly sliced and caramelized

1 cup sour cream (or plain yogurt)

2 tablespoons butter, melted

¼ cup milk or cream (optional, for thinner sauce)

2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley or chives for garnish

Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Arrange a single layer of frozen pierogies at the bottom of the dish.
  3. Spread caramelized onions evenly over the pierogies.
  4. Sprinkle with half the cheddar and mozzarella cheeses.
  5. Dollop sour cream across the top and drizzle with melted butter.
  6. Repeat layers until ingredients are used up, ending with cheese.
  7. Cover with foil and bake for 20 minutes.
  8. Uncover and bake for another 10–15 minutes until golden and bubbly.
  9. Garnish with fresh parsley or chives before serving.
